Can I use the STEMS and leaves of the beets when making red cabbage and beet soup?

I'm also using carrots, onions, celery and potato. Chicken broth and seasoning of course.
Can I use the STEMS and leaves of the beets when making red cabbage and beet soup?
Beet tops are a delicious veg. Kind of like spinach actually. I never throw them away.
Reply:I wouldn't. Leaves and stems of beets are bitter.
Reply:No, stems and leaves are bitter and very tough.
Reply:Sure, you are the cook and whatever you want to do is your business and falls under "creative liscence to cook". There is a lot of nutrition in the beet greens, so by all means include them too.
Reply:You can use it in the soup but don't serve it with the soup.
