When your trying to make homemade betta fry new born food can you use cabbage in stead of lettace?

Live foods are best for betta fry (like microworms and freshly hatched baby brine shrimp). If you absolutely cannot provide either of these, boiled egg yolks are appropriate. Put a small piece between your CLEAN fingers, and rub them together. Dip your finger into the water to release particles small enough for the fry.

I've never heard anyone talk about using lettuce or cabbage. Bettas are carnivores, and cannot live well on plant matter, so I hope you're referring to an infusoria cultivation.

I'm assuming you already have betta fry, but for future spawns, I would take the time to cultivate live food. Everyone has to start somewhere, but please do more research next time.

I've got baby angelfish and I'm trying to work out this insuforia thing too.
Reply:Breeding bettas is for expert level fishkeepers, I believe you could use more research.
Reply:you can, but cabbage can cause alot of gas.
Reply:Yes, you can use cabbage in lieu of lettuce. Just be sure to crush the cabbage first to speed up its decomposition. I assume you will use this to culture infusoria.
