not only in Germany, but in all Slavic countries and Italy I believe. Only in Italy they can use grape leaves.
Is Golombki (Stuffed cabbage rolls) a traditional food in Germany?
The word is Polish but I can't believe a dish so sensible and delicious wasn't cooked all over that area. There are German recipes for cabbage rolls, but it would be a real act of culinary scholarship to show which came first and how they are related because every grandmother no doubt had her own version.
