Do vegetables like cabbage have to be fridged? Or can it stay in room temperature?

When you buy some vegetables from the store, you come home, can you leave it in the kitchen for awhile? or will they go bad?

thanks

cabbage needs to be refrigerated. It is a cold season crop and needs to stay cold.

See what part of the produce department it is in for a clue.

The potatoes, onions, tomatoes and avocados are on regular shelves - no refrigeration,

The lettuce, cabbage, celery, carrots are in the cold cases. They need to be refrigerated.
Reply:Most vegetables can stay out for a little while, but most should by washed and refrigerated soon after. A good way to tell is where they are in the grocery store. If they are in a chiller, then they need to be kept cool. If they are in the aisles (not in a chiller) then they can be kept out a while. The biggest thing is to make sure that your vegetables are cleaned soon after you buy them or at least before you eat them.
Reply:They CAN be kept at room temp, but don't expect a shelf life of more than 2-3 dasy. Veggies like cabbage and broccoli give off ethylene gas, and do so more rapidly at room temp than at cold temps. The gas hastens ripening (or even rotting!). So if you keep them at room temp, make sure they can breathe and are not closed up in a container or bag.
Reply:you can leave them out but they will go bad pretty quick.so when you buy them at the store they are in the area where its is cold to keep them fresh so probably need to be kept that way
Reply:Depends on room temp.
Reply:You could leave it out for a little but but you should put it in the fridge asap.
Reply:they will go bad
Reply:no they wont and depends on wat kind of vegetable it is
