How long does it take to grow a cabbage in Texas?
2-3 months. 2 months it will not be full grown , but it will be big enough to eat.
get plants already started from walmart- nursery etc. set them out now. water during these next few hot weeks. 1st ones will be ready about thanksgiving, many more ready in december. if temp gets below 28 degrees , it will kill them. cover them up if it gets real cold .
you can plant them in the spring too. plant in early march.

an explanation. about harvesting some early(2 months). the reason: trays have 9 plants in them. if you wait until they are all ready, you will have 9 cabbages all at once. so pick and start eating them when they get a head a little bigger than a softball.
how to plant: you set them out just like a tomato plant. in full sun.
