I do it all the time with my broccoli, but for cauliflower, you want to keep them on the plant so you can use them to "blanch" it. Once the cauliflower isabout the size of your fist, you fold four leaves over so they block the sun. This will give you a much whiter result. I would leave the cabbage leaves alone, as they protect the cabbage.
Reply:I think you might cut of a little, but you will get bugs in the 'best' part and the sun will scorch the cauliflower for sure.
Reply:i dont see any reason why not, just bear in mind that the leaves are there for a reason , it is to stop the plant from being burnt by the sun/wind, if you are going to cut some of the leaves off just take one or two and leave them to grow some more or next planting season plant them further apart.
