Looking for a stuffed cabbage recipe that doesn't have tomato's in or on it.?

Had a friend who's mom made this for New Year's. There wasn't any tomato sauce on it or tomatoes in the cabbage rolls.

I use ground beef, pureed chicken livers, chopped onions, chopped celery, minced garlic, chopped bell peppers, chopped green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and rice. Cook all ingredients together, except rice, until meat is cooked and vegetables are soft. Then add with cooked rice. Then put mixture in cabbage leaf and roll. Put in a pan and bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes. You can also add some parmesan-romano grated cheese before you roll up the leaves. I like my veggies a little crispy, so you don't have to bake as long if you like them crispy too. It is delicious. The pureed chicken livers gives them a wonderful taste and it is healthy.
Reply:you can use cream of mushroom soup instead of the traditional tomato base cabbage rolls.. this is how i make mine and they are yummy...ground chuck, bread crumbs, eggs, minute rice, and ketchup.... mix all together...can`t give you exact amounts as i never make mine the same twice..but i always roll my raw meat in small loaves and roll them into 2 cabbage leaves per serving...some people use 1 cabbage leaf but i like more cabbage....
Reply:My dad makes stuffed cabbage with rice and ground beef. He makes wild rice (you can use the boxed kind) and cooks ground beef (crumbled in a pan). He then mixes the rice and beef up. He takes a couple of pieces of cabbage and layers them down, so they overlap. He puts some of the rice and beef mixture on the cabbage leaves and rolls it up like a burritos, tucking the ends in. He then bakes it. I really like this recipe, because you can substitute the ground beef for ground turkey and even ground pork. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
