How Cooking cabbage with bacon bits? no jokes please?

Momma is long gone and didn't tell me how she cook it.Does any one know how to cook cabbage with bacon bit please help

Dice up your bacon.........I like apple wood bacon......in a teflon frying pan...saute it for a few minutes to get the bacon grease (don't let the bacon get crisp it should be wiggly).......add your washed and sliced in wedges green cabbage......add some sea salt and pepper to taste.......cook it on low.........until it is soft..........sometimes I put the lid on to retain the moisture and it helps it cook a little faster.......Yummy!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Cut the bacon strips into small pieces and saute' until crisp, remove bacon and set aside. Keep the bacon grease in the pan and saute' 1 medium onion until soft. Add 1 small head of shredded cabbage, salt and pepper. Stir thoroughly and cover. The cabbage will begin to cook down and when it's ready, add the bacon bits back in and serve.

1 head of Green Cabbage

1 large onion

1/2 lb of salt pork

1 lb bacon

salt %26amp; pepper



Sherred the cabbage, cut the salt pork in small little cubes (best if you frezze it first) then cut bacon in small cubes also

Diced up the onion... Now ready to put it together...

large rying pan brown the salt pork and bacon add the onion

cook until onion is translucent, then add cabbage cook until tender salt and pepper to taste... Serve with a nice rye bread and your favorite meat... So good I'm going to store and make some tonight...

Reply:Fry your bacon in the pan. Cut up bacon to desired "bits"; pour bacon drippings and bacon into a large pot. Add 1/2 c. of water, then add cabbage. Sometimes I add one packet of (Goya jamon seasoning) mixed with the water. FYI It is a spanish pork seasoning
Reply:I do mine exactly as julie696, but I add some broth and a dollup or two of butter at the end and serve it over bow tie noodles.
Reply:as per julie, but add a little cream, and little chicken stock until cabbage is cooked.
