Does anyone know how to lose weight that isn't some stupid eat nothing but cabbage kind of diet?

OK, I'm morbidly obese, (420 lbs.) and obviously need to lose weight. I recently had a stroke and i'm only 47. Ok, I know some of you will say, exercise, exercise, exercise but that isn't the answer. I'm wheelchair bound and have severe arthritis so exercise is out of the question. Any suggestions?

My personal suggestion is that you really discuss this with a Doctor. It's obviously going to be a big change and you should do it with their consent.
Reply:That is a problem - but you can easily switch from things like potatos,crisps,sweets and biscuits to fresh fruit and pistachio nuts (I like those because they take so long to open I can't just eat handfuls !)



Your doctor will give you a sensible diet sheet and suggest some phisiotherapy for your lack of exercise. They meet this problem all the time.



As for your arthritis - have you tried Reiki ? It really does work.



But make sure your Reiki practitioner has been trained and not just bought a certificate on the internet or just read a book on the subject..

Reply:I know that people recommend the medi fast diet to people who have a lot of weight to lose. This diet was actually studied by Johns Hopkins university and found to be effective.

Bear in mind though, that you will need to get in a little exercise even if it's just doing stretches with your arms.

I know that weight watchers works even without excercise, however if you go and see your GP they will be able to give you many many more diets that you can try that doesnt need excercise straight away. Because of your condition you will need a doctor to monitor you as you are on a diet so my best advice would be to speak with your doctor.

Secondly, get your diet straight - not fad diets, just consuming far less calories (probably a good place to start is 2500 calories a day, then work down to 2000, then to 1800.)

Thirdly, you gotta exercise, even if it's just arm exercises, you got to get moving!
Reply:you could try the 5/6 diet where you dont eat anything after 6pm at night.



you could also try weight-loss hypnosis. i was watching a programme about it last night and they said that thats the best thing to get done because it works better than any diet and it doesnt leave you wanting to eat.

Reply:time for you to buy the SOUTH BEACH DIET book.! eat healthy.. avoid fatty foods. don't eat heavy after 6pm, if ur kinda hungry then eat fruits,. drink lots lots of water.. and consult a dietician.. :D
