Stuffed Cabbage, do you freeze cabbage ahead?

No. Do not freeze your cabbage ahead of time.

No you wilt it in hot water first.Just take and cut the core out of the cabbage.Boil a large pot of water and cut head in half and immerse it in boiling water.Turn off water and put lid on,let sit in water for 15 minutes. They are very soft and plyable to make the rolls with...
Reply:No, if you want the cabbage to be nothing but mush, I wouldn't. To get the cabbage leaves to soften enough to roll, seperate the leaves from the head and then boil till soft. Some, usually the outer leaves, will take longer to soften. Make sure you don't leave them in too long, cause then after baking they will just fall apart.
Reply:no the cabbage will wilt terribly the cell structure will break when the water freezes after you cook them sure up to six mos.
Reply:I have heard about that from alot of older Slovaks and Polish people. They claim if you freeze the cabbage overnight and start cooking it (whole), in cold water, it tastes MUCH better.

I always cook the cabbage whole and use tongs to pull off the leaves as they soften. But I always forget to try it the other way.

It seems to me that most older people, who grew up without microwaves and other "time-savers" really know how to cook.

Most of us now are only "meal-warmers".
