How does the pesticide affect the cabbage?

Depends on the pesticide.

A broad-leafed herbicide such as Round-Up (glyphosate) or 2,4-D would kill the cabbage.

A bacterial insecticide such as Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki would have no effect at all on the cabbage.

Pesticide is a very broad term, which covers any chemical or product used for the control of pests, including weeds (plants), fungus, invertebrates (including insects) or even vertebrates.

For a more specific answer, you'll have to specify which pesticide.
How does the pesticide affect the cabbage?
All pesticides have toxic components that are very harmful for human beings. The best thing to do is to grow them without using pesticides if possible. The most common pesticides used for cabbage are Sevin and Malathion. Sevin is the third most utilized pesticide in the US. It contains cholinesterase inhibitor that can be toxic to humans with excessive exposure. No known fatalities have been reported and does not appear to cause cancer. Malathion has relatvely low human toxicity but can break into malaoxon a seripus toxic or into isomalathion another toxic.

Reply:It makes it grow bigger because it keeps the bugs from eating it and damaging it's growth.

Just like anti-biotics keep you from dying, pesticides are a necessary thing if you wish to keep eating.

Unless you like to pay $15 for a dried up ear of corn.
