I want to make a sweet almost clear sauce raisin sauce for stuffed cabbage does anyone have a recipy?

I have had this type of sauce on the east coast in New York and in michigan but nodody makes it on the west coast. I have tried everything but can't find out how to make it. I don't want to use tomato sauce because that was deffinatly not in it

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 tablespoon vinegar

1 cup raisins

1/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 1/2 cups water

PREPARATION:

Raisin sauce directions

Combine brown sugar, cornstarch and dry mustard in a small saucepan. Place saucepan over medium heat. Slowly add vinegar, raisins, lemon peel, lemon juice and water. Continue cooking raisin sauce over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Serve raisin sauce with ham.

Makes about 2 1/2 cups of raisin sauce.







Heres another one

1/2 cup brown sugar



1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch



1 teaspoon dry mustard



1 1/2 cup water



1/2 cup rasins



lemon to taste



Instructions

combine brown sugar, dry mustard, and cornstarch together

Add remaining ingredients

Bring to a boil, and let simmer 15 to 20 min.

Reply:Not sure, but I bet the key would involve golden raisins. I would probably try some reduction of a Riesling or even Ocean Spray White-Cranberry Peach juice as a base.
