How do I safely get rid of cooking odors like fish & cabbage? I have a bird - so most air fresheners are out.

My house is open from kitchen - to dining room - to den. I have used baking soda and vinegar in separate containers to rid smoky odors in other houses. Is there something safer yet still effective?

equal parts baking soda a water are effective, sanitary and non abrasive.
Reply:Try lemon juice, works very well for me: what the unit thoroughly fist and rub agaist the surface with a slice of lemon and wash it off with cold water
Reply:Baking soda absorbs odors from the air. Why not use it. SO does baking soda cat litter and activated charcoal. You could use a scented candle to hide teh odor.
Reply:It's not the fish and cabage that smell it is more likely greese.
Reply:Buy some stick cinnamon and whole cloves and put them into a small pan with water and boil on the stove for a while. It smells wonderful and does take the fishy odors out of the air. Since its a natural product, I don't see where it could hurt your bird...but not being a bird owner, I can't say. Lighting candles in the kitchen, dining room and den will also help with odors.
Reply:scented candles always work for me. and wipe down things like walls with lysol wipes.
