Using ammonia is tricky but it can be done. You could use a maximum of 1 tablespoon or 15ml of ammonia per gallon of water once every 10 - 14 days. You have to start when the seedling has 4-5 true leaves but with quarter of that amount and increase gradually. Make sure the soil is moist when you apply any type fertilizer. But the problem with using ammonia is that it is easily leached through the ground or vaporized in the open air. And it could easily burn the roots even in when diluted if you use it too much too often. You may want to incorporate composted manure into your soil which naturally and slowly releases ammonia. Hope this helps.

Reply:Don't put ammonia on any plant unless you want to kill it.

A table spoon of ammonia nitrate can be worked into the

soil around the plant. Household ammonia is good to poor

out from the plants to keep critters away. Too close and the

fumes will burn the plant or kill the feeder roots. For cabbage,

try moth balls to keep it worm free. Size? The size of a lady's

fist, more or less. Hope that helps.
