Reply:I'm feeling Generous, so I will share with you a family recipe that is simple, cheap, and fantastic with cabbage!

Cedric Adams

Cut the head of cabbage into two equal portions. Grease up a large casserole dish and place 1/2 of the cabbage on the bottom. Next brown 1lb of ground beef with 1 medium white onion. Once this is complete, add the mixture to the dish on top of the cabbage. Now place the remaining half of the cabbage in the bowl. Prepare 1 can of tomato soup as indicated on the can, and add one tsp of sugar. Pour this mixture over top of the prepared dish, cover, and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Enjoy!
Reply:Do you have rabbits? Buy a pair. In two months time, you'll have a dozen. Then Cabbage will not seem like such a problem. :)
Reply:Wow, how much cabbage did you get to have to ask this question.

Cabbage Soup,

In a large pot sautee a medium sliced onion in about 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil until opaque. Add 2 minced cloves of garlic. It will only take a few seconds for the garlic to perfume the kitchen so be ready to add the cabbage when you smell the garlic. Don't let the garlic brown. The cabbage should be chopped but not as small as for cole slaw. Please remove all of the core of the cabbage. It is very bitter. Get the cabbage coated with the oil in the pan %26amp; cook down just a little. After it is cooked down add a 14 ounce can of stewed tomatos %26amp; 4 cups of chicken broth. Bring to a boil, cover turn heat down to low %26amp; let simmer about 30 minutes. There is enough salt in the broth %26amp; tomatos that you can add salt %26amp; pepper to taste at the end. It's great if you add cooked sausage at the end too. Very good with cornbread.
Reply:Hi,

The following recipe is one of my favorites. You must try it. Of course there is always corned beef and cabbage that is also good.

Cabbage Patch Soup

1 lb. ground beef

1 small onion, chopped

? c. celery, sliced

2 c. stewed tomatoes, do not drain

2 c. water

2 c. kidney beans

1 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

1 tsp. chili powder

2 c. cabbage, chopped

4 large potatoes, cooked and mashed

Boil potatoes until tender, drain and make mashed potatoes. This will be used to top soup when ready to eat. Brown ground beef, onion and celery until done. Combine tomatoes, water, beans, salt, pepper and chili powder in large pot. Add beef mixture and cabbage; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes.
