What is the best way to core a head of cauliflower and a head of cabbage?

Cut both in quarters from top to bottom. With both make V-shaped cuts in the bottom taking out the core.

No biggie, eh?

A sharp knife.Duh!
Reply:Carefully use a sharp sharp knife to cut out the nasty hard stuff no easy shortcuts like lettuce that you slam against counter
Reply:Cabbage is a little hard to core.... but i just use a small knife and cut out small pieces at a time. As for the cauliflower...i dont think coring is such a good idea since some of the little "trees" might fall off during cooking. Just chop off the stem close to the head. Or, just don't cook it whole!
