Tips for digesting cabbage?

Please, serious answers only.

I love cabbage, but every time I eat it (cooked or raw) I get terrible smelling gas for the next day or two. I usually cook my cabbage by lightly steaming it for about 10 minutes.

I would really like to avoid getting hooked on buying things like beano.

Does anybody have some ideas about what I can do to digest cabbage better?

This really works...Have two pots of water going, half way through cooking time remove the cabbage(only) from the first pot of water and put into the other pot of boiling water to finish cooking.

From website I linked below...

"The cellulose fibre in cabbage contains a substance that tends to ferment in the intestines, producing unpleasant and noisy effects.

There's a simple solution to prevent such problems and to overcome cabbage's indigestibility: Blanch the cabbage in water, allowing it to cook for a good five minutes after the water comes to the boil; discard the water; cover with fresh water and continue cooking.

Keep in mind, too, that Chinese varieties are much more digestible and have fewer "gaseous" effects. "
Reply:There is a theory that the "musicality" of beans and cabbage is best tackled with more beans and cabbage. As the body gets used to processing it, it will cease the making of excess gasses that take us by embarrassing surprise 5 hours later. Eat some every day, but do not invite me over during the difficult "adjustment period".
Reply:Cruciferous vegetables are noted for that. Try taking BEANO before eating gassy foods. You can buy it over it the counter at pretty much any store.
