Cut the cabbage into about six pieces and boil it for about 20 minutes in the water you cooked your corned beef in. Check my recipe -
Corned Beef
1-4 Pound or so Corned Beef Brisket
2-Tsp Minced Onions
1-Tsp Garlic Salt
2-Tsp Ground Cloves
4-Bay Leaves
Topping
2-Tbls Mustard
2-Tbls Brown Sugar
?-Tsp Ground Cloves
Place Brisket in pot and cover with water. If the brisket came with a seasoning packet add it along with the minced onions, garlic salt, ground cloves and bay leaves. Bring to slow boil and reduce to simmer for three ? to 4 hours.
Remove from pot and place in shallow pan. Mix topping ingredients together and spread evenly on top of meat. Put in 350-degree oven for 20 minutes. Slice crossways into ?" slices.
If you want cabbage leave the pot on the heat when you remove brisket and cut a head of cabbage into about six wedges. Put in pot and simmer for 20 minutes while the brisket is in the oven. Discard Bay Leaves.
How do i prepare my cabage and how do i cook it for my corned beef and cabbage?
I like to saute the cabage with a little bacon grease like 1 Tablespoon. After cooked, crumble in a little bacon. Yummy!
Reply:I cover my corned beef with water in a pot ,let it cook on medium fire (covered) for 3 hours then quarter the cabbage heads, add, cover and cook for another 20 min. to 1/2 hour, then serve.The cabbage will seperate naturally. Simplicity is beautiful
Reply:You boil it. It's pretty simple. Boil the corned beef for about 2 hours, them add the cabbage,(cut the head into 4 pieces)carrots, and potatoes. Let this boil for another 30-40 minutes.
Reply:put both in a crockpot with about a cup of water and 2 tbsp of salt. cook on medium for a few hours depending on the size of the beef.
Reply:When i cook corned beef i use the one with the spices on it and i put it in a crock pot filled 1/2 way with water and the rest with apple juice then i put potatoes in. let it cook all day when your at work on Med or high temp. come home and put 1 head of cabbage in i cut mine in to 1/4 Pisces and let boil for about 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours. then slice and serve.
