Top tip when boiling cabbage?
ha, ha..........should have known.............silly me for taking the bait!
Reply:In the mornings when I am getting ready for work, I put two eggs in the kettle to boil for my coffee. Buy the time the kettle has boiled, I have perfect soft boiled eggs.
Reply:Cabbage makes you fart.
Reply:Boil as briefly as possible in an open pot. Cut a small cabbage into fourths or a larger one into eighths or chop coarsely or into thick slices and boil for 4 to 9 minutes
Reply:Er um, sugget you go %26amp; sleep it off Ernie..
Reply:Who puts cabbage in a kettle? Much best cooked in a steamer.
Reply:I don't boil cabbage. I 'fry' it.

Start with a bit of cut up bacon in the pan. Once it is about half done, add some chopped up onions. Cook the two for a bit and then add the cabbage. Stir around a bit. Put a lid on the pan and let the ingredients steam-cook. Turn over fairly often. Add salt and pepper part way through the cooking and you have a yummy side dish.
Reply:thanks for that!
Reply:cut the cabbage up in to shreds do the same with a small onion place in the pan and add enough water to cover the base only. add a fresh bay leaf and a knob of butter. do not add salt but do add a good grid of black or red pepper. bring to he boil then cover and steam for 3 or 4 mins.

great with a roast dinner etc. or steam some salmon and flake it over the cabbage and cover with a light cheese sauce

Reply:Steam it, don't boil it. Also, drink the water or use it in cooking, as it'll probably have masses of B vitamins, magnesium and vitamin C in it.
Reply:Don't boil it, slice it finely and fry in oil then add black pepper. Beautiful
Reply:have you finally found what you were doing wrong.
Reply:Great tip. That's sort of like using the water after you've cleaned it with vinegar and not rinsed and run it through good enuff isn't it?
Reply:That sounds sensible, the element would probably over heat and burn the cabbage that touches it and it would taste horrid.

You would be able to cook very much at a time.
Reply:I would like to answer a previous question you asked. If my memory proves correct, you asked for ideas for the Yahoo!Answers conference in Washington DC. Lately, I have been reading answers to some of the questions posted on here giving malicious responses or simply stating, "2 points," as their answer. As we all know, best response rewards 10 points. How about deducting (10) points for the response receiving the most thumbs down? Perhaps then we might see more intelligent and insightful responses. I know we all have our own opinions, but we also have our votes. Just a thought.
