If you simmer potatoes, cabbage, carrots and broccoli in a pan, will it taste nice like veg stew?

if you simmer cabbage too long it goes slimy so dont put that in to early. Same with broccoli....

it will be nice if you use a nice stock.

You will need to add some stock and some flavours. Any herbs and spices you like will do, some garlic and some onions too but as previously said you will need to cook potatoes longer than the other veg otherwise they will go slushy

1 1/2 lb potatoes, peeled and cut them into chunks

Reply:leave out the broccoli. add rutabaga
Reply:Add a quart of water. Toss in a teaspoonful of Mrs.Dash, add a couple stalks of celery, chopped, and some diced tomatoes and a chopped onion. When that's cooked for half to three-quarters of an hour, toss in a package of chopped spinach, some diced zucchini, and a can each of Canellini beans and red beans. Cook another twenty minutes. The result will be pretty dang close to minestrone, my fave soup. Just before serving it up, sprinkle a tablespoon of grated cheese on top. Serve with plenty of crusty bread and butter...
Reply:I often cook 2 or 3 vegs in the one pot to save gas.

I don't chop them too small so they are easier to separate for the plates once drained.

Its the same with the steamer. I will cook the potatoes in the water and then carrots and broccoli in the top basket.
Reply:not broccoli or cabbage

stock cube. potatoes, carrots, turnip, onion.

thicken with cornflour, cook very slowly with the lid on.
Reply:Don't add the broccoli until the last 5 minutes or esle it will just turn to mush. Have you got an onion to throw in for extra taste. Don't forget you salt and pepper.
Reply:add some seasoning and be careful not to over stew. It should come out good
Reply:yes it would but dont forget the meat
