Reply:Cabbage soup is the best! Cabbage, onion, potato, carrots, celery, water and ground beef (precookedanddrainedwell). Season with the basics, such as salt, pepper a bit of garlic or your favorite spices. Some like to add tomatoes or tomato juice as well. Even simmering at a low heat the soup will cook thru in about an hour and a bit. I would stay away from the crock pot, but then that could be because I have never had much luck with them. I use a large stainless steel pot, make that very large. I always make lots in hope of freezing some but it gets eaten long before I get a chance. Hope this helps!
Reply:Cook the cabbage in water with the ham and some caraway seeds. BE CAREFUL: When boiled or simmered, caraway seeds have a tendency to release A LOT of flavor.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

1 large head cabbage, chopped

1 (15 ounce) can cut green beans, drained

2 quarts tomato juice

2 green bell peppers, diced

10 stalks celery, chopped

1 (14 ounce) can beef broth

Place carrots, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, green beans, peppers, and celery in a large pot. Add onion soup mix, tomato juice, beef broth, and enough water to cover vegetables. Simmer until vegetables are tender. May be stored in the refrigerator for several days.
Reply:SUPER easy...... In a Dutch oven, put the GIANT size can of tomato or V-8 juice ...let it simmer until hot; add shredded cabbage, carrots, celery, whatever else you like. If you're using V-8, you won't need much seasoning; but if you're using tomato juice, add some pepper, a dash of tabasco, worchestershire sauce, some seasoning salt and whatever herbs you like.... Simmer about 1/2 hour more with the veggies
