Can you freeze cabbage from garden and if so can you tell me how thank you?

NOPE. Its kinda like you don't freeze lettuce either ... kind of a common sense issue!
Can you freeze cabbage from garden and if so can you tell me how thank you?
I assume you are going to boil this later or use in cooked recipes not slaw. I do this and use it just to boil with butter or in soup.



Cut in large chunks leaving out the core. Put in boiling water for about 5 minutes and cool it in ice water. Drain for a bit. Place in bags and freeze. Works out just fine. Been doing it for years.

Reply:No. Cabbage turns into disgusting, slimy mush when you freeze it! Lettuce, too...

(1) 1 Large head of cabbage---chopped or grated cover with tap water. Add 1 cup salt or to taste. Soak for 2 hours, and then squeeze dry %26amp; wash.

(2) Mix 1/2 stalk celery (chopped)

1 large green pepper (chopped)

1 tablespoon whole mustard seed

Set mixture aside

(3) 1 cup white vinegar

1/2 cup water

2 cups sugar

Bring to a boil

(4) Pour over cabbage, celery, pepper, mustard seed, mix well

(5) Let set until cool, stir once in awhile.

(6) When completely cool, put in containers or freezor bags, %26amp; freeze.

This is a really good recipe, it will keep in the freezor for a couple of years.It is really tasty, most times I make a double batch. Hope you enjoy this. Have a nice day.
