shred and fry with cooked cubes of potatoes and cubed bacon
Reply:OOH! Make cabbage and noodles, just cut the cabbage into strips add a chopped up onion, sweat it down in a covered pot with a little water and salt, and make some pasta, egg noodles, would be good. When its all done cooking add the pasta to the cabbage pot, apply butter garlic, salt peper, and caraway seed (you don't have to add this for it to be good - you may not care for this flavor, its really an acquired taste) and enjoy!

PS Some people like this with nutmeg - you're on your own in that dept. LOL
Reply:Blanch the leaves then stuff them with a filling of your choice..could be meat, fish or other veg.Fold them into parcels and bake in the oven.
Reply:well ever heard of bubble and squeak here is what to do cook your cabbage the normal way and in a seperate saucpan boil up some potatoes and onions when cool get a large bowl when all the ingredients are cooked mix them up with 1-2 eggs to bind. and get some flour on your hands and pat them firmly what ever shape you like then shallow fry them both sides there you have it bubble and squeak. serve hot with anything eg sausages.
Reply:Just boiled to perfection.

Boil half a pan of salted (about 1tsp) water add a quarter of a tsp bicarbonate soda. Cut up savoy and drop into boiling water. Bring water back to boil quickly and cook for 12 minutes. Drain well and serve with anything.

Left overs should be chopped, added to mashed potato (King Edwards are best) with a little chopped onion if desired and fried for the best bubble and squeak.
Reply:this is great for left overs

leftover potatoes mashed with the leftover cabbage and left over corned beef then add a little bit of onion and seasoning. Make into palm sized cakes - dip in beaten egg then into breadcumbs. Put a fair dollop of oil into a frying pan and cook until golden brown.

Delicious

Savoy Cabbage

If you can find this cabbage you'll have to try this recipe. It's so easy to prepare and so tasty too. This is a winter cabbage in Italy and we so make this often every winter.

Ingredients:

2 lbs. fresh wrinkly-skinned Savoy Cabbage

2 cloves garlic

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Peel away the outer leaves of the cabbage and discard them. Then slice the rest of the cabbage into thin 1/4" strips.

2. Heat the garlic cloves in the oil in a large nonstick pan.

3. When the oil is hot add the cabbage and salt.

4. Mix often until the cabbage is thouroughly cooked.

5. Salt and pepper to taste.

Notes:

If the cabbage gets to dry while cooking just add a little water to keep it from sticking. Note that the volume will reduce by 60 or 70% when cooked.
Reply:i like it braised with caraway seeds and served with pork.
